For Edward Ibeh's This Or That Vol 22 Contest

The turbulent time in my life set the future at stake,
crumbling in the crushing clutch of stifling suffering,
my broken heart bled in inflicted pangs of pining ache,
the arms of hope remained remote for me to cling.
My boat wrecked in the high sea in the storm of agony,
I strived to swim to the elusive shore ever receding.
The inner voice mutely conveyed optimistic I should be,
distracted hope reminded me every cloud has silver lining.
As daydreams dwindled at sunset, dismal night fell fast,
I knew the sun must sink to rise in splendor again,
inspire the Phoenix in me to arise from distress dust,
I waited for the calming dawn’s touch to erase my pain.
The gentle zephyr wafted silver-lined clouds in my mind,
rainbow radiance allured me through its archway to fly.
With its melted hues the lattice of ecstasy got defined,
to new height of bliss on my course I soared in the sky.
My aching heart turned a butterfly, flew on beguiled wing
in the assuring air on the bright trail of sanguinity sunray
to the garden of rose blooming in desperate hope in spring,
under the new satin sky emerging from the gloom of grey.
