DESPAIR

Dark night
outside
Only
lanterns
shed light
The cold
creeps up
my spine

How long
before
daylight
will warm
my soul
my heart
my core
so hard

Today
she kicked
me out
I hurt
I'm lost
alone
what do
I do?

I hold
my dog
sole source
of warmth
We'll find
a home
We will
We will

I'm sure...

The world
Is vast
Somewhere
Will be
A home
that lasts
That loves
Welcomes

I'm sure...

Excellent poem full of basic truth about humanity. Indeed, how long until sunrise warms our souls? And in the end, I think we're kidding ourselves about a lot of stuff. There should be a shred of humanity in everyone, but unfortunately so many people lack even the basics.
