Desire To Be Better

That day like all other days
I stopped at the cigarette shop
To light up and blow away the blues
The packs have bigger warning pictures

At sundown a friend offers a drink
I readily agree, saying to myself:
why can't I give up?
why can't we just meet?

I should do this
and ponder on...
I end up performing rudderless
wandering in the wide sea.

The chains are removed
there are no blinkers
it can travel far
Into every nook and corner 
it is unstoppable 

I want to check
I wish to do...
