Desert Thorns

Desert thorns that sting. Careful desert animals. Both have great instinct, Finding safety together. Not permanent for either.

What a deep and moving tanka this is. Iv always found it freaky, in the desert how there roams, scorpions silently, i bet thorns too; this also has a metaphorical touch to it, and is soul hitting, it always is impressive for me when one expresses so well and deliver deep poems in short forms! Well done hilda. Happy new year to you, and i hope this year brings you everything your heart desires

Thank you. The desert certainly tends to be lonely. It's a great canvas to poem against . I'm happy that you like my poems.

Cacti can be lovely but also dangerous. I have lots of pets and so no cacti but lots of other plants in my garden. Nice job here. God Bless, JB

Thank you for your comment. The cat, Dee Dee, who is now older, seems to circumvent the prickly stuff. I'm not as lucky.

One of my disappointments. That I never saw a cactus in the desert. Once I used to grow them from seed. I had thousands. Then I grew old and gave it up.

Most of my cacti are short and close to ground but my yucca is large. Thousands of weeds-like plants also have stickers that cling to my socks. Thanks for your comment.

an accurate description of what I witnessed while living in the desert southwest in El Paso. A nicely constructed Tanka, Hilda. Have a pleasant evening, Sara

Hilda, I really like your splendid composition, a Tanka of the exquisite subject wherein you artfully depict the marvels of the animal kingdom intertwined with the enigmatic allure of the desert.
