Don Knotts played the role of Deputy Fife,

   Whose tomfoolery created much strife!

      He bungled all that he did!

         Sheriff Taylor blew his lid,

             Distressed by Barney's screw-ups that were rife!

I used to get kind of pissed off watching him. Because I know people that actually act like him and they just drive me crazy!! Thanks for your advice on my poem . I went ahead and put it into that one contest.

Don Knotts is one of my all time favorite comedians.. Mostly cuz of hos role as Mr (RALPH) Furley;) I think when I was a little gal I had a semi-crush on him,, LOL.. He sure was a screw up, on the screen.. Poor Deputy Barney... Now I have "The Andy Griffith Show," theme whistle stuck on my mind. Bob H., this is my favorite Limerick from you.. Adding it on my favorite list... HUGS... LINDA

Barney was one of my favorites when I was growing up...although he was surely the epitome of ineptness, his underlying bravery, moral uprightness, and human kindness shone brightly through the comic façade....enjoyed your work....
