Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen-line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two third line of stanza three and the fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It doesn't have to follow a set rhyme scheme. line 1 line 2 line 3 line 4 line 5 line 6 (line 1) line 7 line 8 line 9 line 10 line 11 (line 1) line 12 line 13 line 14 line 15 line 16 (line 1)

Try to imagine being owned, bought, and sold as one's property. Denied your liberty for life and fed to dogs for amusement. When confronting racial unrest, try to imagine being owned. And the added degradation of being spat on and beaten. Slavery's harder to forgive when blacks believe they're still enslaved. Try to imagine being owned or made to feel that way today. Black lives matter marchers tend to be in your face and demanding. But before you belittle them, try to imagine being owned. A beautiful reminder of our cruelty, which needs to be in our face. Our history is scared with the things we did to blacks, Chinese, Native Americans, Japanese, Mexicans...and each other. Congratulations on your win!
