Definition of a Woman

A woman can be a sweet and gentle soul With a heart of gold and nerves of steel, She can hold her own in the worst of times And let you know exactly how she feels. She can tell you who and what she is like To define her in words is seldom necessary, For her beauty and charm is self-evident Nothing about a woman is at all ordinary. I define her as one of God’s best creations Grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, friend A nurturing, loving, phenomenal delight The best women I know, a delightful blend, I never define a woman in biological terms She is so much more than eggs and sperms. Thanks a bushel, gw. I think they are certainly the two most important lines in the poem, except for maybe line 10.

The last two lines of your sonnet are simply the best summation of your your thought on a woman! If I were judging your poem for first place you would win hands down! / Maurice

Good entry, Milt, it should do well. Your tribute to women is well deserved. The Bible story says God created man first, but then realized he needed help. It never mentions if a woman needs help are not. ??? All the kinds of women you mentioned have helped me to become who I am. Many thanks to the women in my life. Bill

Thanks, Bill. I don't know where I'd be if it had not been for the strong women in my life. Every person owes a woman a debt of gratitude...his/her caring, nurturing mother.

It is not enough to know the subject. You have to be able to describe it, too. Milton is a gentelman in this poem, somebody that knows the feminine soul and describes it in beautiful verses as few could do. We're learning, Milton...

Jenna, I went back and copied your comments and put them here. I have no idea what happened. Must've been a glitch in the system or something. Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Jenna, I don't know what happened to your thoughts on my poem. It shows that you wrote a comment, but when I came here, I couldn't find it. Huh?
