Deep Within My Nightmare

Deep within my nightmare
Amidst the shards of broken glass
Creatures dwell that were spawned in hell
And heroes dare not pass.
A black wind starts to bellow
As dark clouds fill the sky
And blood red rain starts falling
From the corner of my eye.
Lightning strikes the Devil’s tower
As I find myself alone
Within the haunted hallways,
Fire trapped within the stones.
I scream within the silence
And watch as hope just melts away
And I pray that I will soon awake
To see another day.
My heart beats so intensely
I fear it bursting through my chest
And my breathing becomes ragged
As the terror within me crests.
When my eyes finally snap open
I thank heaven when I see
That there within the real world
You’re still lying next to me.

A pleasure to read your poetry today Frank. I will try to come back later this week to read more. I have a spring cold and not up to reading for too long. Have a wonderful week. Love, Carol
