Deep Within

deep within the confines of my heart
lies a very special place I keep barren
only a worthy caring person can apply
for admission to this wonderful place

many have tried as many have failed
my bar is set purposely for failure
even if they get close, they still fail

a few months ago, a woman entered my world
with a broken, vulnerable heart, badly crushed
we began a friendship that has continued
to blossom into deep caring feelings for her, for me

she has proven to be worthy of this special place
funny, we made a pinky promise to never purposely
to hurt each other ~to keep our hearts safe from harm

now, she resides permanently inside that special place
she helped open my heart to live once more
having her inside the confines allows me to whisper
the words she needs to hear that will put her heart, healthy

welcome my wonderful, beautiful friend to the heart of
calm serenity and a peacefulness to be free from harm
