Deep Valley
Oh, the deep valley of the heart
Holding the secrets of the past
The longing in the present
The hope in the future uncharted.
Layers of mud and rock slides
Over seasons long past
Have buried many tears and treasures
Throughout the history of its life.
But they have made the valley
Even richer and more beautiful
The river running across its spread
Continues to feed it abundantly.
As the sun glides over the valley
The river sparkles in excitement
Birds chirp and butterflies flutter
For spring has arrived finally.
The orange poppies happily wave
In the gentle breeze sweeping tall grass
Lilacs upon trees their scent so sweet
White lilies bowing their heads in grace.
The slopes dressed in evergreens
Allowing some rest from the sun’s rays
Offering shadows changing in shape
As the days move to their eve.
No one knew or could notice
All the turmoil underneath
That had accumulated over years
Through all seasons and their caprices.
At last peaceful is the valley
For you have come to me
Tears of joy I cry for this gift
So long awaited and I am free.
