Notes About The Poem

Deep Red and Ripe

a mulberry tree
under dark blue/purple skies
birdsong on the wind

red orb descending
midst the hello and goodbye
the wandering hours

evening breeze caress
sun lurks in shadows of night
mulberries so ripe

"red orb descending midst the hello and goodbye the wandering hours"--absolutely love this. I bet you make a fine pie, no dieting at your scrumptious tables I bet. Blessings!

You have my heartfelt thanks, Joe. I am very happy this poem resonated with you. I've never had rhubarb pie but I hear it's delicious. Have a blessed Memorial Day, Evelyn

I ove all berries. We had an abundance of strawberries every year.

Oh this brings back memories of sitting in the branches of a huge Mulberry tree that grew in my neighbor's yard eating mulberries until our hands, lips and teeth were purple. There were Blue Jays that nested in the higher branches too. Love it. God Bless, JB

My mother had a backyard mulberry tree. The fruit is extra nice. Blue jays are so pretty! I've had them in my yard before. Now I see mostly cardinals. Thanks your appreciation. Blessings, Evelyn

mulberries sure have added some richness since Dr. Suess' debut ('And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street). Stark!
