Deep In the Woods

Deep in the woods, a cottage lies, deep in the core of it, and gazing out with empty eyes, twins by a window sit. Deep in their thoughts, they sit, these two, above their shack, a shroud of limbs from trees block any view of sun, or moon or cloud. Deep in their hearts, they had to know they shared a secret sin. In dark, sweet flowers cannot grow when jealousy creeps in. Deep in the night, the cold winds gust. The leaves from a fresh dirt mound. The winds, as strong as two maids’ lust, now move the leaves around. Deep in the ground, lies one who came by chance. He did no wrong but put twin virgin hearts aflame. . . then stay a bit too long. Deep into sleep, each woman dreams of the love she yearns for still and shivers to recall the screams of the man both had to kill. for Skat's Dark and Deep (old poems only)Contest

Leaves so much to the imagination - and that's where all the spooks live. You do this sort of thing brilliantly. Really brilliantly. - Red

Chilling tale m'lady. The fact that you did not explain the "why" in their murdering some random person makes it all the more intriguing. I find terror doesn't stick with you if you don't have some mystery involved. You seem to have similar views... thanks for the read!

Wow! A deep woods mystery. Why did they have to kill the man? Was it for love? You always kill the man you love. Isn't that a song? Yes, in my perverted mind, I seem to recall the tune. I enjoyed this mysterious opus, dear Andrea. Love, daver

This is a stunning write which I enjoyed reading my dearest friend Andrea! A scary one which is, as always very creatively crafted by one of my most fav. poets. I like it so much! My biggest congratulations in all your 3/more consecutive fantastic wins. By the way, I would like to answer now about my ex Adonis. His picture was already torn into pieces;) and that poem Tell Him was really for him ;) Thank you so much for asking.;) Have a great day in sunshine! love much, Leonora
