Decor Exquisite, Service Superb

A candlelit restaurant, where dine the elite
        Securing a reservation, a near-impossible feat

My dream date and I, dressed to the nines
The views majestic, overlooking the Rhine

The décor exquisite, in the finest of taste
The service superb, orders prepared post-haste

But the cuisine so awful, my date gave me a glance
Darling, I confessed ~ I ordered the ambience

It comes with squirrel fur on the side. 'Today's special.'

Ah Iv had this same experience couple of times! Its such a turn off when the ambience is good but the taste is just a disappointment! Kinda reminds me of so many things in life! Such as books, and also people! Haha Well if you know what I mean Pleasure reading Sending you light always

Ambience matters not when eating the food leads to calling an ambulance! Keep smiling, Gershon

haha, isn't the way it sometimes is with expensive restaurants. One strange thing, I don't understand is when you go to a fancy place, and the serving size is suitable for a small bird.

Aha! The answer is that wealthy people want to appear dainty in their eating habits. On the way home, they stop at White Castle for two-dozen sliders. lol. ~ gw

Gosh we get it. We just got back to town, celebrating our 49th anniversary (though that special date is tomorrow). We went to a lovely restaurant on our trip. My husband nibbled his meal, then asked for a carryout box thinking our 23-year-old son would like it who we overheard telling a lady he'd come along to watch over his older mom and dad as he was worried about us traveling alone :). Our son was grateful for the large portion of fine cuisine bequeathed to him from that 'fine dining establishment', but even more grateful for the understanding when he expressed "This stuff tastes awful!" as dear 'old' dad nodded in agreement. That dinner cost a lot of money, but a treasured compliment to me when I made my husband dinner the following night at the resort which featured a beautiful kitchen in the suite. He said, "Now this is food!" He thought it more delicious than that of a chef, I am blessed!

Sounds like you're ready to go into business-for-yourself: High on taste; low on ambiance. Gimme that recipe any day of the week! :) gw

All that glitters...well, you had the best of intentions. And with meager funds, that must count for something, letting her know that this young guy will make any sacrifice to make her happy in life. Love this one.

I'll eat in a hole-in-the-wall if the food's good. ~ Different Strokes
