Deciding To Leave Scarecrow Up
I was given fresh coins and an unexpected apology
not sure what this reparation meant
for you, the woman said.sliding me twenty dollars also
she was ugly, old, with a nose you could ski from
high in the air, waiting for November’s snow
it is October, so Halloween came into mind
This is so you will not seek revenge she whispered
she was odd, a predecessor to my spirit of before
why am I the one who sees these entities?
corn was sitting next to gourds, all were silent
cold winds were hailing from Kansas
A cultivation of autumn ideas entered my nostrils
so this is the new October I thought
I decided to leave the scarecrow up
not that she was doing me a bit of good
