Deception

You walked away; left me in tears, bitter words ringing in my ears. I know you took me for a fool You gave her that costly jewel, this brought to light my deepest fears. We’d been married for seven years, our credit cards had huge arrears debts mounted up, you were cruel … you walked away. I’d seen signs, faint red lipstick smears; hushed phone calls, so that no one hears. You laughed it off, acting so cool, denying breaking any rule.
