"OWE NO MAN ANYTHING SAVE LOVE.  FOR HE WHO LOVES HIS NEIGHBOR HAS FULFILLED THE LAW."   Romans 13:8

GOOD DEEDS:  Some people think you an build yourself a stairway to Heaven with them.  You can't.  The Bible tells us that in comparison with God All our good deeds are as filthy rags. Some people are so proud of their Christian charity that they try to put it on display so people will see what a good person they are --- BIG MISTAKE.  When you do that you mess it all up because you did it for the glory of yourself not the glory of God. The Bible tells us we are to do ALL things cheerfully as a service to The Lord. Let God reward your goodness not people because His reward lasts a whole lot longer.

Owe no man anything but love, And pay off all your debts, And when you give, give from the heart, And all you give forget. Be willing just to lend your hand, To anyone in need. Don't worry 'bout your recompense, Or tally your good deeds; For that just leads to selfish pride, And generates contention; And paves the way for much discord, And clouds the spirit's vision. But look ahead at all the things, The Father's done for you; And all the things He's doing now, And all that He will do. Then ask yourself what you can do, To show appreciation, For all that you've received No Charge, Save love and veneration.

Great that you suggest the way leading to the Godly path - and very importantly should you or your child do something good for a needy person, that should stay between you and God, not worn on your sleeve for all to see and hear about. Brilliant poem, a fave Judy, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

For me, the older I get, the more I count my blessings. Not so much when I was young, though. Excellent poem, Judy. I think we all deal with vanity to a certain extent.

We must never emulate the Pharisees. We give any alms for the glory of God and should not question why. Very wise thoughts.

Great advice Judy, everything you do you do for God. Yet many announce all the good deeds they have done seeking glory for themselves. They've had their reward. Hope you have a good week. Tom
