Death Will Not Silence

I doubt that death
will silence me – really,
I do! Too aware of my
sleep walking and
forgotten dreams, tacit
residuals of restless nights --

I sense that I have traveled
both day and by night

from light into dark, when
my body prone then did my
spirit embark --

life requires no full memory
record, vivid enough if
times, as many of mine, illusive
yet stark --

This is so deep and profound dear Jo. I agree with you, I think even in death you will live on! I love so many lines here, especially about finding light amidst darkness and growth, we experience different phases of life to heal and learn and grow through what we feel ~ Pleasure reading this gem Sending you light always

Death, I feel sure, will not silence you but wake you up, as it will all, wake us up after decades of sleeping on earth. I enjoyed this. Isn't it odd how memories can be illusive yet stark? A topic I wish would blossom as a write in me is how strange what we remember is vs what we don't. Many times, in life I know I've said, "I'll always remember this" and then I didn't. Then there are odd little nothing moments that live clear as can be. Hey, I may be inspiring myself with my last sentences, hmmm

Actually, death silenced Dolly, BUT it will not silence you!

Hi Gershon; country music was never my thing, more with the old crooners and jazz greats, a want-to-be drummer myself...but I think she brought a lot of bubbly joy to many, and for that she will be remembered well. My prayers with the family.

Joe, your wonderful poem conveys a profound meditation on life, death, and the elusive nature of memory. Its introspective tone and imagery create a thoughtful atmosphere. It effectively captures the ethereal quality of dreams and the journey of the spirit, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences.
