Death Wears White

Death wears white
Descending a scarlet stair
Robes billowing in the breeze
Scythe held firmly in hand
Death bows before me
An intrepid traveler here
Death pulls down its hood
A scream dies in my throat
A skull as white as ivory
With roses for eyes
Death pulls them out slowly
Unafraid of the thorns
And Death presents me a rose
I grasp it firmly by the stem
Feeling the thorns dig into my flesh
But Death has not come to take me away
Death has come to save me
From the hooded being
Slowly descending the scarlet stair
Its robes a lush velvet
For Death has kin
That kin is Suicide
And Suicide has come for me
With a flourish of rose petals
I stab Suicide in the eye
And black blood gushes
Death places a hand on my shoulder
And I am forgiven
For ever calling upon suicide
