Death Preterition
They say I wait for you
Didn’t they see me vying
for another look at you
as they shut the oak wood casket.
They say I wait for you
But know that they are lying.
I don't save space on our bed for you
Just that, that side is sagged under your weight
They say I wait for you
I’m crazy, are they implying?
I don't launder clothes for you
Just that a half-full load isn't environmentally great.
They say I wait for you
That truth I am denying.
I don't set the dinner place for you
Just love how your plate matches my plate.
They say I wait for you
Why do they come here, prying?
To stare like I'm talking to the specter of you
Don’t they know you dozed off just after you ate?
