Death Embrace

Written: April 12, 2025 for contest Sponsored by: Sara Jama **************** Chills run down your spine, close to fear. You hear her whisper softly in your ear: "Are you ready to breathe your last breath? Will you surrender into the arms of Death?" Gentle, concerned faces gather around you. The echoes of stifled sobs crum the air. . . The priest prayers play out as a silent mime. She smiles and murmurs, "It's almost time. " Her cold, invisible hand rest upon your fevered brow. Your freedom feels much closer now. You sense your wife's warmth from a distance near, How comforting are the tender touches here. Her serene expression caught your eye, A dying man's final distant glance. With a gentle kiss, she takes your breath. Your broken, aching body embraces Death.

This made me tear up dear sotto, The imagery and detailed manner youv told the story here is truly soulful and so very moving! One that would linger within my mind for a while even after reading! I especially felt the lines “ Her serene expression caught your eye, A dying man's final distant glance. ” that final goodbye, farewell shared with love might be comforting but definitely one that would be haunting too for some as they would never get to see your beloved in person again. However love is timeless. Pleasure reading your poem today! Sending you light

How pleasant it is to die this way. I long for a peaceful death with my dear ones standing around me to a give me a peaceful farewell and the priest praying for the salvation of my soul. Though there is fear initially, it is taken over by a feeling of walking closer to freedom. This is such a sweet poem though it is about death.
