Death Doesn'T Know Compromise

Near the local library in my sweet little town lies Greenlawn Cemetary where peace abounds.. An open field bursts in tawny golds like a Monet. Flitting yellow butterflies land briefly and then fly away.. The Allegheny Mountains provide a panoramic view for those demised and their visitors too. Each engraved headstone, a tribute to one whose gone is meticulously spaced a part on it's well manicured lawn. Miniature flags were planted so one never forgets the wars of our past and all are brave vets.. A few sturdy benches coated in gloss offer up a place to sit and mourn the one you've lost.. It's quite serene, dignified, I remain seated in my car, sharing in their solitude from a far.. From flesh and blood to earth's rich mud, so many stories, so many lives. All are born and all must die, death doesn't know compromise.

A peaceful place for those that finally know peace. Thank you for your respect for those that have passed and especially the vets that fought for their country. A FAV for my list, dear Nancy. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Thanks Bill and I appreciate that you and Sara have "faved" it. I know the meter is a little off and probably should have been tweaked a bit. Nice to know my intentions came thru.

You described perfectly a cemetery and the graves. I liked 'flitting yellow butterflies' perfect as butterflies only live 28 days..great symbolism there. I believed I was right there with you and identify with your feelings of serenity and dignity...then the ending lines, Wow! Great job. Am faving, Sara

thanks so much for the visit and your comments. I'm sure my ex has angels on his shoulders as like you there have been so many near death experiences. I have only almost died once during surgery but God wasn't done with me yet either.

So true. Death seems so unfair to those left behind. We mourn. But I think the passed on are at peace and happy.
