Death By Grace
O’ death
You are beautiful……
I wish that I could be with you
Exchanging blows that life threw
My suffering would be through.
You are an inspiration……
I look for you before I sleep
To prepare me for your keep
Take away my sorrow that’s into deep.
You are a giver……..
My darkest nights I want to flee
There’s little resilience left in me
I would rebound on your decree
You are rejuvenating….
My past with be obliterated
Less baggage to carry, now less weighted
Douse my life that has been ill-fated.
You are a protector….
I fear the reaper who carries the scythe
I trust him not with my life
under his cloak perhaps a knife.
You are my trustee…..
Tie my fears to a raft
Let it float like a craft
Swallowed up by the draft
You are a leader…..
O’ death you live in the dark
I promise you I will not spark
I see you as a patriarch
You are watchful….
With the weight of sorrow and grim
It so weakens my body of spirit and vim
Reduced to ashes from bone to skin
You are receiving…..
I yearn for your embrace
to comfort me that no one can replace
This night will be swallowed by your grace
Death is an antidote for suffering
Life cannot defy it, as for me, life without death is smothering
