Death
I saw you rustle through the trees
Heard your mournful sigh on the breeze.
I knew somehow you were out there
Knew you would find me somewhere.
I thought I saw you shuffling past the gate
Maybe contemplating my future fate.
Your footprint in my flower bed
In some would cause a certain dread.
I heard you wheezing at the door
Glimpsed your shadow on the floor.
I know that you will find me someday
Slip through a crack and take me away.
I know I can run but I cannot hide
For time is always on your side.
So when you come for me you'll find
That somehow you were always on my mind.
