Death
He held her hands tightly
as she gasped for her last breath.
Tears from his eyes poured like stream,
and like a weeping child, he screamed.
And as he brought her to her resting place
his heart drowned in loneliness.
Her death was too much for him to bear.
He wished he could lay his life instead.
And for the times that he braved alone,
her face lingered in his memory.
There was not a day he did not think of her.
He wished she could be in his arms again.
So, one Sunday morning in spring,
he drank to death her memory,
and as the birds sang for his soul's forgiveness,
there beside her, he was laid to rest.
For, life without her was bitter,
but dying beside her was so sweet.
The horizon was filled with joy
as his soul looked up to ascend.
