Dear Sonneteer

I wonder. . . can you take me to a world where ladies fair with ringlets in their hair, with graceful shoulders bared and necks bepearled wear gowns that billow as they dance on air? Around the ballroom floor these girls are swirled upon the arms of men most debonair! Such coy sidelong looks to their gents they give, for lust is held at bay - romance they live! And in this bygone era, gentlemen pursue their ladyloves with great aplomb. Imagining a picnic in a glen. . . I'm with a handsome bard who starts to strum a tune to verses written by his pen. To poetry this maiden will succumb! So whisper euphony into my ear, and lose us both in time, dear sonneteer. Written by Andrea Dietrich for nette onclaud's MOMENT IN ANOTHER TIME Poetry Contest

I loved this in your chapbook and I love it here. A dreamy, old-fashioned vibe to it that is sure to make its recipient swoon with romantic delight. A fave ~ John

Veryromantic poem! Attended a wedding in Dallas tonight. A lot of fun dancing and romance in the air. Past ages might have been better as you imply but until they invent a time machine the only way to visit them is by reading - or seeing a historical drama. Have you seen any really famous poets read? I have seen Lawrence Ferlioghetti, Allan Ginsberg, Galway Kinnel - and plenty of other poets since I live in NYC and ther are readings all tthe time. It is a good way to socialize even if hearing so many poems gets a bit wearing. I try to listen to music - and sometimes poetry late at night. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

While time has lived a year or two. This time is still in me and you. The world today has it's own code. But we can choose another road. A time of Cinderella's slipper, and this one's for the Gipper. A 57 Chevy and my mother Evie. These gifts we hold with all our might. As romance will still rule the night.

You are on a sweet kick - nothing lurid, with a taste of chivalrous behavior. "To poetry this maiden will succumb." Yes! Down with all this lately X rated stuff! Give me the scene enacted before the bedroom. Let's have a little class, eh? Luck in this most worthy contest. Love, daver
