Dear old swing, hanging from our back yard tree.
Well I remember those long summer days
as memories of childhood now flood me.
For hours I swang! It was more than a phase.

Well I remember those long summer days.
Alone, feeling free, with daydreams flowing,
for hours I swang! It was more than a phase.
How high I could climb once I got going!

Alone, feeling free, with daydreams flowing!
Thinking of back then – I sit with a sigh.
How high I could climb once I got going.
Let me once again fly up to the sky!

Thinking of back then – I sit with a sigh
as memories of childhood now flood me.
Let me once again fly up to the sky -
Dear old swing, hanging from our back yard tree.

I don't swing any more because my aging inner ear can't cope with it any more, but this was a fun ride back in the time machine to childhood. Congrats!

Nicely captured. 'Dear' it is, and more forlorn missing its child counterpart, than the busy teenager becomes. Lovely celebratory poem.

Wonderful memories in your flowing lines.I loved swinging when I was a little girl. Now when I try, I get motion sickness. The memories are far better. GL in the contest. Rhonda xx

Me too, I can't do it any more or I feel sick. I LOVED fast crazy rides at the carnival and those make me sick now too . Uggg. it sucks to get older.
