Dear Old Friend

Dear old friend
Dark day clouds
Now hide away your sun

As I still open up
A morning door
Hoping to find your feline face shining in

No more furry hugs
Inquiries to where I was
Just my missing thoughts

Of all your cries
And why I never heard the one
That said
Your nine lives will soon be up

I’m sure you left
To spare one of us
The pain

But, Oreo
Never will you
Ever be replaced

As I watch my phantom halls
Of whites and greys
And a lap
Now filled with a truly empty space

Ohhh. You have said it, may I print and share with a friend who's beloved cat disappeared this past year? I will certainly give you credit and know he will appreciate it. Thanks, E.J.
