Dear Jesus
Thank you for my puppy.
She never yells or leaves
She is always there for me
to sit, or play, or just to be
as if she knows my needs.
You knew that I would need her
for these lonely, angry days
to clutch and cry into her fur
outside with the blue bird
while inside, their voices raise.
Why does he have to be so mean?
It’s not her fault; she did no wrong!
He says he loves You, so make him see
what he’s doing to our family.
He hasn’t been with us that long!
He listens to You, God make him hear
make them stop, make them love;
close his mouth and open his mind, eyes, and ears
You’ve done it before, (please) do it here
make them like my puppy dog.
