Dear Enemy
Please allow me to breathe my words of gratitude
For without you I could still be me 5 years ago
Without your words, I could still be me 10 years ago
And without your actions I could still be me 15 years ago
Allow me to say thank you.
When you pushed me, I learnt how to resist the force
Hence, I can resist gravity and head for the stars today
When you shouted at me, I cried
But without those tears I wouldn’t know how not to cry today
When you poked me, it used to hurt
But when I’m hit by lightning I don’t feel a thing today
Allow me to say Thank you
You knew I was deep into the hole
When you threw dirt at me
But I appreciate it,
The same dirt became my stepping stones – to get me out of that hole
You threw banana peels when you saw I was on heels
But I appreciate it,
I can walk with pride in all seasons, rainy or sunny
Please allow me to say Thank you
With you I realized that having an enemy
Is as important as water is to fish
My eyes would go red, only little did I know
That it was the only way for my eyes to be this pure today
Do allow me to show my deepest gratitude
Thank you
