Dead Winter

I do not know what happened yesterday.
There was a bright light on the horizon far away.
Soon there was cold and perpetual darkness around.
This was accompanied with the shaking of the ground.
The land we dwell in was a tropical paradise.
However, it has become covered with ice.
The air has become too cold to take a breath.
Creatures freeze in their tracks to their death.
There is no life on the surface to be found.
Nothing but snow and ice covers the ground.
We were somewhat lucky to find this cave.
This large crevasse in the mountain our lives would save.
How long in this cavern will we have to stay?
From what is going on outside, nobody can say.
