Dead Skunk Season

again a dead skunk on the road nearby
I can smell it's musk drifting on the breeze
but darn . . . I feel sorry for it, I really do
no soul deserves to die that way
       oh, I recall the time
one chased me down a forest path
it's tail was high and it was mad, real mad
seems I got too close to it's home
I really thought I was going to have plunge
into the stream ... but it got bored I guess

Phew… who’d have thunk that skunk would have such a short attention span? Congrats, Constance. Terry

You are right. No, animal deserves to die as roadkill, although way to often it happens. Congratulations to on your win in my contest.

Constance I am so glad you valued these beautiful animal. They are so intimidating to people because of their ability to spray that fowl odor. He doesn't want to, but that is his only defense. Realize this when he does that he to has to smell his own terrible odor. I am sure he does not like being so stinky. Enjoyed reading Constance, the skunks painting in the picture is so cute, how can you hate them? lol

Thank you for recognizing the cute and stinky animals. I had one in the house one time. It sprayed the cat (which had it by the neck). Nice poem.
