Daydream
Listen to poem:
Daydream
To dream and with imagination fill
The long and unfulfilled waking hour
And so by my thought’s abstract vision will
Hour by hour unsatisfied time devour.
To envisage in my now aroused mind
My idle thoughts as in a picture formed,
Where reality and illusion bind
And my life’s course then by pretence transformed.
To comprehend within my waking day
Life lived in my ambition’s wishful schemes;
Tomorrow within the compass of today
And so today obscured by fruitless dreams.
Until such hopeful pretences slowly fade
And daydream’s fantasy is then unmade.
