Day Trip
I spend all day writing poetry about you, and God,
Lying in bed and waiting for heaven to open up and come grab me.
I sing to the stars at night with my mouth wide open,
I’ll catch whatever good luck falls in from the passing comets.
When I swallow it, my insides will glow with the same celestial fires that the sun herself beams with.
And suddenly- I have become the sunset.
I am the lavender and pink ephemeral hues that dance and drift across the sky,
a masterpiece painted right before your eyes- dyeing the ocean with the colors of a summer in love.
