Day In the Life of a Late Summer Day

Sleep.. indigo’s eyes, night loving allies,
Sol’s flare is stars' disguise dawn till dusk’s reprise,
peach awe-inspired skies effuse juice sunrise,
east, grapefruit pink lies - lemon slice rhapsodize.
Pastel wash replies to Zephyrus sighs,
morning glory highs yield to afternoon’s surprise..

wings golden butterfly's, squires sun clockwise,
ruddy west implies cocktail hour’s devise,
sunlight’s demise creeps in blueberry dyes,
plum, mango fraternize as prim-rose chastise.
Sunset complies sending signal-light fireflies,
Wake! indigo’s eyes, night loving allies,
tantalize poets to romanticize.

Aw, my dear Gerson, thank you for the generous beauty of your comments. I am humbled by your wonderful thoughts. A 'poetic enchantress' is only enchanting if the reader has an enchanted imagination.. which you certainly possess, my inspiring friend. Your sweetness and light is treasured. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

What beautiful colorful imagery, Susan! I wonder if at one time in your life you attended art school! I could visualize how your paintings would be...splashes of vivid colours, bold, warm and soothing according to your mood. Your Monorhyme flows exquisitly; both internal and end rhymes are rich and musical. Warm regards // paul

Paul, your instincts are astute. Yes, in the first third of my life, I immersed myself in drawing, painting and print-making. I was a fine arts major in college as well, hence my love of color. These days however I prefer to express myself with words and linguistic imagery instead, but sometimes think about dabbling again in paints (when I retire and have more time :) Thank you for your 'exquisite' comments. That you enjoyed my poem pleases me and brings out my smile. Your insightful musings mean the world to me my delightful friend. Warmest wishes.~Susan
