Day-To-Day
Today I saw a gentle wind blow through the trees.
I heard the song of birds on the wing.
I thought I tasted sweet honeysuckle flowers.
I felt the dew on the new grown grass.
I caught a faint whiff of fruit from an orchard.
Yesterday I saw a rough breeze fling soot into the air.
I heard a deep, sorrowful silence.
I tasted death and despair on my tongue like bitter medicine.
I felt the dead branches and brambles under foot.
I could smell the world rotting around me.
It’s amazing how the world can change from day to day
And how much we try and forget yesterdays wrongs but can’t.
