Notes About The Poem

Rick's 'What Do You Feel contest'  ~  March 18, 2025

Dawn's Brush Paints the Sky

Beneath windswept limbs of an ancient tree
I quietly sit as Dawn's brush paints the sky.
My thoughts turn in this sunrise morning
to blades of grass around me that soon will dry
after sprinkled with dew when night held sway.
I'm feeling melancholy over days gone by,
recalling sad memories that come to mind...

A love once held deep within my heart
and a romantic song we had called our own.
Here, on the ridge where the world is hushed,
I'm in no rush to leave my dreams behind
while remembering a time when life was kind.

Lin, you have penned some kind feelings about reflection and its value. I’m thinking we take as much time as we need to consider our memories and how we want to relate to them. Smiles!!

I don't think we can stop memories from washing over us. Good and bad. Thanks, Duke.

Ah i absolutely love the softness of your word weaving here and how evocative it is, i can feel a touch of nostalgia flowing throughout your well articulated lines! I especially love " A love once held deep within my heart and a romantic song we had called our own. Here, on the ridge where the world is hushed," soul stirring really! Made me reminisce too as i read this and i love the picture too! Stunning poem. Well expressed. I always love the elegant way you weave thoughts. Sending you light

Your in-depth comments are poetic interpretations worthy of being a poem, Ink. Thanks ever so graciously for leaving your thoughts on this one.

In the peace of the dawn your mind wanders, returning to your past and your thoughts relive those happier times in your life. Good luck Lin. Tom

You know as well as I do that in the silence of morning our thoughts are often brought to mind, Tom. It's a tranquil moment in time when memories are recalled... not always the happier ones. Finding that photo through AI made my lines seem more real. Thanks so much.
