David - the Poet's True Inspiration
The Old Testament's shepherd of Israel
son of Jesse David the anointed king
chosen by God by his servant Samuel
the master harpist sweet music did he bring
God's scriptures include David's psalms
divinely inspired for many a sore heart
bringing soothing lifting one's spirit
a believers tonic fill in no small part
Every emotion of the human heart
David addressed them every single one
showing that God has always sympathy
out of a love running over never done
Every poet learns much from God's poet
a study of his psalter brings reward
showing the true depth he sought
abide close to his God in sweet accord
David the poets true inspiration
every bard does well so very well
listen this man had a heart like God
open it wide to therefore go and tell
