Daughter In Heaven
The storyline changed without a warning,
Leaving me in endless mourning.
They say, “Stay in the moment,” but
how can I stay
When all I have left are your yesterdays to replay?
My mind wanders, reliving the wonders—
Your smile, your voice, and the love I still honour.
I am still here and embracing life;
I just falter a bit more since one of my wings has taken flight.
Missing all the moments that could have been,
Searching for answers within.
Hurt—
Clinging to the echoes of your shirt.
The fabric left behind
Soothes my heart in kind.
The remnant of your beating heart
Is the glue that held me from the start.
My mind conjures different endings;
In each, you are still standing.
The wonder of the mind keeps me safe,
Wrapping me in a cocoon amid the tragedy I face.
One more day of grace, I shout,
To breathe in deeply and breathe out.
Lift,
Savour,
Prayers,
Gift.
