Dashboard Daze

Do you ever think what might have been When you drive alone at night Just you and your thoughts in darkness In the glow of the dashboard light We were so young and innocent then Playing parts in by a grown-ups game Suspended in our own universe Where tomorrow never came. That final day when you slammed the door The walls came tumbling down I held my breath and prayed to God That you would turn around Although it was oh so long ago I think of you now and then And wonder had I called you back what really would have been. I hope you wrote that brilliant book That was pulsing through your veins And still adhere to the adage Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Yes I do think that...usually comes and goes but long slow drives stuck in jams in the dark rush home on winter nights stirs all that up. Don't know why! Good piece. Rob

Thank you Rob. Yeats would call creative writing "a terrible beauty,' akin to those Dashboard Daze dallyings.
