Darkness Passing

Although the darkness casts his pall On everything that’s good and true, A time will come when he won’t have This power over you A day will come when he’ll be gone, And you won’t have to see his face, Or fear what he might do to them, When you are far away A day will come when they will know The truth, and see him as he is— A sick and lonely little man, More childish than his kids A day will come when they will choose The place where they felt loved and safe, And go where they were listened to, And held in your embrace.
