Darkness and Light

Anger, revenge, and destruction Overshadow the face of the earth. “An eye for an eye,” never ending, At a cost that’s far more than its worth. Can our minds never grasp understanding? Can our hearts never learn to forgive? Can we never renounce hatred and malice, And just learn to live, and let live? Let us turn from the wrath of the eagle, And seek, rather, the peace of the dove. Let us turn from the way of rancor and hate, And be filled with the sunlight of love. Hatred rejoices in darkness, But the dark is dispelled by the light. Sunshine illumines the shadows And conquers the demons of night.
