Dark night of the soul

All mortal beings will experience
The dark night of the soul
It is inevitable as we journey
Through this human mode
Sent through a time-space continuum
Like time travel through a wormhole in space
Our souls are thrust into these shells
And we creatures become that grow old
We start off our lives completely naked
Vulnerable and dependent on others
We learn and grow and overcome obstacles
And at some apex we will know trouble
If we are smart, we will introspectively sit
And allow our higher self to commune
With our souls in our hour of darkness
Where the well seems deep and foreboding
The dark night of the soul is a chance to
See the brightness of the stars in the heavens
And feel the absolute divine spark within us
That shines out like a beacon calling to God
And if we gather our wits and fortitude
We shall rise, having known our demons
And faced them bravely in the cold and dark
Until at last, triumphant, we walk into the light
All mortal beings experience
The dark night of the soul
For it is a chance for us to know
And fully appreciate our immortal soul's role
And just like that we are flying and free
Our wings are formed and steadily we breathe
Air that is crisp and true and new and everything
For our perspective shifts and we are whole
