Dark Clouds

It's been hot for so long
The wells have run dry
The earth cracked open
My crops have withered
I can feel the sun so close
Im soaked up without much work
And my tongue is thirsty for a drop

It reminds me of my heart
Wanting and thirsting for so much more
Dry and empty, lacking in love
Love to be given or received
And for the first time
I don’t want clear skies or sunny days
Every day of it cracks my heart even more

The land is dry
The people are hungry
The heart is grieved
For so much want
But as our hearts give up
We surrender ourselves to death
I think this is our fate

But now I see a heavy sky
I see only dark clouds
It's going to be an outpouring
For my heart and my crops
So for our sake
I do hope it has come to stay
The dark clouds I mean
