Dark

Disconcerting to us is darkness of space, across which luminous stars adorn the sky. We look to the light, as outpourings of grace, whilst inky blackness, instinctively decry. Wishing to linger in our lovers embrace, we equate love with light, which when ebbs, we die. Fearful of the dark, we sleep it off at night, joyous when greeted by the morning’s sunlight.

Many fear the darkness and cling to light, others use it for a cover for their evil deed; to me it is a place of solace, a place to listen for wisdom in a quiet place. Thanks for sharing your thoughts through your revealing poetry, my friend. Have a mindful day. Bill

In darkness, we no longer see other objects, so the subject-object relationship disappears, cajoling us to accept singularity. Our true essence in singularity is living light, self-existent, which is what is made in God’s image, as stated in the scriptures. Consider the dark void experience during meditation. Yet, be it as it may, we are the light.

Maybe I’m strange. I find comfort in darkness as well as light. Maybe because I suffer from migraines and a completely dark room brings comfort. I enjoyed your play on words and light.

Reminds me of the iconic song ‘hello darkness, oh my friend …’
