Notes About The Poem

My Olympic heroes are the Paralympic heroes. I am myself in a wheelchair, I know how hard you need to work to grow beyond what the outside world sees as disability.

So, this is for  my heroes, who are now busy working on their Olympic dream!

Dare To Dream

Dare to dream
See beyond the limitation
Of useless legs, fasten them with care.
Join your heroes in Olympic wear.
Nothing beats imagination.
Dare to dream

Dare to dream
See yourself in winning gold,
With your multi-coloured wheelchair.
For once revel in the crowd's stare,
Where surprise in eyes unfold.
Dare to dream.

Dare to dream
I don't see my able self restrained
My future shines perhaps less brighter light
But I never will go down without a fight
I am proud, aware, well-trained
Dare to dream

I close my eyes and let me
Allow myself to see
What might not even be
Because my dreams are free

Congratulations. i like your take on the Olympics. This is my favourite on in the contest. And, not only, by the way, I like that you are proud. Prejudice needs to go...

In this great garden of love made by God, everyone has a place. unfortunately Darren lately,i've been revolted by those 'Normal' who have so much prejudices(for T21 and homosex.children) An inhibited growth of the mind i must say! Well done with such a motivating poem! Sunita

Thank you Sunita. To the eyes of the world I may perhaps not be 'complete' or 'normal', to me I am pretty much okay! Gay, disabled and whatnot, but most of all proud :)

People with 2 functioning legs cannot write as well as you! I shared your well written and appealing poem with my son who participates in the special olympics and he wanted me to cheer you and your poem on. No problem. Keep dreaming, writing and changing the world one event at a time ... CayCay
