Dare Not Withhold This
After the gun smoke and fires die down;
and the cries of sacrifice,
for liberty,
are buried in the blood soaked ground
Will there be sugar after the rebellion?
The taste of sweet liberty comes at a bitter cost
Dare not withhold this price paid,
with the heavy sprinkling of so many lives lost
How many scarlet lumps of violent persuasion
does the holder of the turn key need?
How many spoonful of crimson bleed
must be vehemently poured in their cup of tea?
Will there be sugar after the rebellion?
Peaceful resolution is a refined process,
graciously distilled
by the pure sterling-hearted best
Dare not withhold this tear blessed occasion
from firmament happening
Let it be pulse poured generously,
the sweet crystalline nature of peace
So it must be joyously asked,
will there be angel cake served at the freedom celebration?
