Dangerous Wings

1/3/2019 Laying within the walls Of a young child’s hand A trapped moth Longs for release The child plays Dancing in the grass And a yellow flower Calls her close In a moment of diversion She frees the moth Allowing it to dance and explore the sky With freedom its wings grow Reaching for the sun Bathing in the clouds Feeling what it’s like To live outside the walls But when it goes too high The sun burns its chest And it cannot breathe Forced to come down The moth does not know Where to go Or where to land So it falls Longing for the hands Of the child Dancing in the grass

It always amazes me that bees and butterflies have such a short lifespan -- it must be the same for moths, eh? Very nice! Thank You!
