Dangerous - My Eye

Brushed past the damp ti-tree - felt a clinging to my eye.
I tried to wipe the cling away - too late! I realize.
A leech is connected to the white. I could not stop its bloody feed.
It gorged itself before release - leaving my eye to bleed.

A leech clinging to the white of your eye, how terrible, they must have been feeding on the sap of the tree, and then it found you! An interesting write , thank you Lindsay. Hugs, Jennifer.

Hello Jennifer … these leeches are black, about an inch long and very thin. They wave about on foliage of ti-tree and attach themselves to any warm blooded creature that walks by. My eye was targeted - thanks again Jennifer - Lindsay

How horrible. I think anything happening to a person's eye is the worst place on the body. I have to get an eye shot every five weeks and it freaks me out every time. A chilling poem well written Lindsay! xxoo

So true Connie … thinking back to when this occurred sends shivers down my eye. To be able to see the leech swelling with my blood caused panic. I think I'd find an eye shot would concern me too Connie - Lindsay

OMG, how horrible!!! It reminds me of the time I was studying my husbands back and saw a weird thing MOVING but looked like a giant pimple. It was a dang tick!!! HAd to get him to a doctor to get it pulled out. I hate this kind of stuff . It can really mess you up. Good poem.

A tick Andrea! I had no problem compared to a tick. The tick in our area is a paralysis tick and if not removed can cause a severe problem. Thankfully for my sake they live along the shoreline - the thought of it made me shiver Andrea - Lindsay

Hello Richard … it wasn't pleasant. You can't just pull the leech off. It can do more damage than having it sucking blood - thanks Richard - Lindsay

G'day Tom … I'll leave the nine lives with the cats. Leeches can be a nuisance when fishing along creeks, especially if things are often. Often came home with three or four stuck to my legs - thanks Tom - Lindsay
