Danger At Ease

They pierce the sky,
They hedge us in,
Our steps are halted by them,
They recede us,
They bruise us,
Crowns and thorns,
We wear the former,
We walk on the latter,
There is much to be accomplished,
Much more lie behind those doors,
A plethora of them to seize,
We do not shudder for the dangers outside,
We shudder from our fear of the dark,
We shudder for our threadbare courage,
We shudder for our incorrigible steps.
