the image of a bear dancing makes me want to weep and weep
I push the scene away
oh sweet baby bears taken from their mothers and the wild
and trained to dance
with an unimaginable cruelty (I cannot even describe it)
rings put in their nose and jaw
teeth broken or removed and food dreadful
I must push this scene away for it's too cruel to fathom,
the wildlife sanctuaries are trying to end this in the world
I pray one day they will
but I have another image in my head so magical
of baby bears
in the wild dancing while their mother sleeps nearby
three bears in a circle
tapping their little feet in time
joyfully they dance innocent of the cruel world waiting . . .
